About the Author

Andrew Smith

Born in Sydney, Andrew has alway had an interest in military history, he is the principal of Reveille Books as well as the webmaster for the Australian Society of World War 1 Aero Historians.

His family has a strong connection with the birth of the Air force in Australia. His Great Grand Parents were caretakers at Point Cook during the Great War, whilst both his Great Uncles served with the AFC from the start, both being members of the ill fated Mesopotamian Half Flight. His father was born in the caretakers cottage at Point Cook in 1916.

For Andrew, this project started after reading the exploits of Robert Alexander Little, Australia's Ace of Aces, and his dismay at the lack of recognition that Australians who served under other flags in WW1 have. The Australian War Memorial has no memorial to them. He hopes to help correct this oversight with this website and the publication of the book.
